We love our special team of volunteers at Wevise and are committed to recognizing the efforts of some of our best and brightest. Our new Volunteer of the Month award looks to highlight the hard work and dedication necessary to make a difference and push Wevise’s mission forward. Balancing family matters, career goals, and volunteer work is not easy to pull off, but some handle it with true aplomb – and that’s why our first Volunteer of the Month is the one and only Josie Weitzel.
Josie is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Quote Velocity and has helped keep things under control at Wevise as COO as well. Proudly from Italy, she has a passion for mentoring teens and advocating for orphans and is a self-professed “geek at heart.” As she moves on from Wevise to write her next chapter, we’d like to take a moment to let her tell a bit of her volunteering story, as only she can:
Why did you join Wevise?
I was on the lookout for volunteer opportunities and, being a tech enthusiast with a passion for mentoring, Wevise seemed like the perfect match. It was like finding a treasure chest filled with everything I love! Plus, giving back to the community while talking tech? Sign me up!
What has been the most rewarding part of volunteering here?
Honestly, it’s the people. Working with a team that’s spread across different continents and time zones, yet united by a common goal, is nothing short of magical. It’s like being part of a global orchestra, each one of us playing our part to create a beautiful symphony for Wevise. Seeing everyone come together to dedicate their free time and energy is incredibly inspiring.
What are your hopes for the future of Wevise after you leave?
My dream for Wevise is to see it blossom into one of the largest non-profit organizations out there, creating a massive network of mentors and mentees worldwide. Imagine a world where everyone has access to guidance and support, no matter where they are! I have no doubt that Wevise will continue to grow and make a significant impact.
Who was an inspiration on your journey toward service and volunteering?
My parents were my guiding stars. They always emphasized the importance of giving back and using our talents for the greater good. Their mantra was simple: “If you have the ability to help, you have the responsibility to do so.” They were my first mentors, showing me the true meaning of community service and the joy it brings.
What’s next for you?
Next on my agenda is focusing on my son, who has special needs and has recently developed some medical conditions that need my attention. It’s a new chapter for us, and while it’s challenging, it’s also filled with love and determination. I’m beyond grateful for my time at Wevise and the wonderful people I’ve met along the way. It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for both my family and Wevise!
