Position Summary
Wevise is seeking a strategic, mission-driven volunteer Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as the organization’s financial steward during a pivotal stage of growth. This role is ideal for a seasoned financial leader who thrives in entrepreneurial environments and is excited to build systems, strengthen governance, and guide long-term financial strategy
The CFO will oversee financial planning, compliance, and organizational sustainability while partnering closely
with the CEO, COO, and Board of Directors. You will help shape the financial infrastructure that supports our
expansion into new cities, our fundraising goals, and our future transition into a paid executive structure.

future.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning (40%)
- Lead long-term financial planning aligned with Wevise’s strategic roadmap and multi-city expansion goals.
- Develop financial models, forecasts, and scenario plans to support fundraising, program growth, and organizational sustainability.
- Advise the CEO and Board on financial risks, opportunities, and strategic decisions.
Financial Oversight & Governance (30%)
- Oversee financial policies, internal controls, and compliance with nonprofit regulations and 501(c)(3) standards.
- Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting to the Board, donors, and regulatory bodies.
- Maintain strong financial systems and ensure audit readiness as the organization grows.
Budgeting & Resource Allocation (20%)
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the COO and program leads.
- Monitor spending, cash flow, and resource allocation to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Provide financial insights that help teams make data-informed decisions.
Fundraising & Donor Support (10%)
- Collaborate with the CEO and fundraising team to develop financial materials for grant applications, donor proposals, and sponsorship packages.
- Ensure financial transparency and reporting that strengthens donor trust and supports major gift cultivation.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial leadership; nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to build financial systems, models, and processes in lean or early-stage environments.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit compliance, GAAP standards, and 501(c)(3) financial governance.
- Experience partnering with executive leadership and boards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial information for diverse audiences.
- Commitment to equity in tech, inclusive mentorship, and community-driven impact.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, resource-constrained, all-volunteer environment.
Structure & Future Path
- This is a volunteer executive role with a minimum one-year term.
- Requires 15–20 hours per week with flexibility based on fundraising and visibility demands.
- Remote-first; in-person engagement may be beneficial for select donor or board activities.
- This role is intended to evolve into a paid executive leadership position as Wevise scales.
