Position Summary
Wevise is a US-based nonprofit founded in 2022. Our mission is to make careers in the technology
industry more attainable and create more diverse and inclusive tech communities through equitable
access to mentorship, education, and career opportunities. We’re a team of committed volunteers
from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about leveling the playing field in tech (and beyond).
Our first program, which launched in June 2023, is a mentorship platform for those looking for personal
or professional guidance in the technology industry, with a focus on those from disadvantaged
communities or with additional barriers.
Responsibilities
- Developing wireframes and UI designs in sprints as the development team builds out the platform.
- Working with a designated mentee to develop design themes in Figma and best practices.
- Collaborating with the marketing and software development teams to ensure a cohesive and user-friendly experience for our platform.
- Developing and conceptualizing a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for the brand.
- Producing high-quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes.
- Ensuring the creation and delivery of tailored experiences for the digital user.
- Developing and conceptualizing a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for the brand.
- Producing high-quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes.
- Designing UI elements and tools such as navigation menus, search boxes, tabs, and widgets for our digital assets.
- Testing UI elements such as CTAs, banners, page layouts, page designs, page flows, and target links for landing pages.
- Collaborating with the marketing team, and internal and external designers to ensure the creation and delivery of tailored experiences for the digital user.
- Providing advice and guidance on the implementation of UX research methodologies and testing activities in order to analyze and predict user behavior.
- Adhering to style standards in typography and graphic design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in web, digital, product design, or a similar field
- Knowledge of design tools such as Figma and /or Webflow
- 5 years of experience in the tech and/or design industry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, great organization and attention to detail, a thoughtful and constructive approach to critiquing and the ability to manage their time effectively.
- A basic understanding of front-end development and a willingness to learn new skills and disciplines is a bonus.
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience and be able to contribute a minimum of 5 hours a week.
- A portfolio of past design work is required, as is the ability to work and collaborate with a mentee.
