As Wevise’s Chief Product Officer, Phil Morehead has been a guiding force in transforming Wevise’s mission into reality. From architecture to execution, Phil’s leadership has shaped a platform built to break barriers, particularly for those just beginning their journey into tech. His work isn’t just technical; it’s deeply personal, and it’s the reason he is the Volunteer of the Month for May.

“As a self-taught developer turned product leader, I’ve often wished I had access to mentorship earlier in my career,” Phil said. “As a first-generation college graduate who spent a large portion of my childhood living in poverty, I understand how much of a difference the right guidance at the right time can make”

That belief is what brought Phil to Wevise and helps drive his important work here. His passion for breaking down socioeconomic barriers and creating equitable access to tech opportunities has made Wevise a better place.

Most recently, Phil led the charge in getting Wevise ready for its Chicago Tech Path Alliance pilot launch, an initiative that reflects hundreds of hours of collaborative volunteer work spanning design, development, product, and marketing. “As we get feedback from our inaugural partners, I’m excited to keep scaling and growing the platform to make it even more impactful,” he said.

Phil brings a deep well of experience to his role. Currently a Senior Product Leader at Fuego Leads, he’s focused on AI-powered tools and internal platform modernization. Before that, he served as a Director of Product Management at a consulting firm, leading large-scale transformation projects in sectors like healthcare, government, and fintech. His approach, whether in a lean startup or a sprawling enterprise, is always centered around people, process, and product.

And when he says his favorite part of volunteering with Wevise is the people, he means it.

“We’re all united by the drive to make tech more inclusive, more accessible, and just a little less intimidating, whether you’re a new mentee or a seasoned pro trying to give back.,” Phil said.

Phil lives in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife and their almost-three-year-old daughter, Corinna. “She’s the best kind of chaos,” he added. They also share their home with two dogs: a bull mastiff named Aurora and a Beagle mix named Daisy. Outside of work and volunteering, Phil dives into his many passions – hip hop, Peloton rides, hiking, gaming, tattoos, and anything tech-related.

In addition, Phil has a passion for tattoos, and his ink tells a story: from his daughter’s newborn footprints to a Charmander on his calf, a Kobe Bryant Mamba Mentality sleeve, and a Darth Vader half sleeve, all of which serve as daily reminders of growth, resilience, and creativity.

And yes, if you ever find yourself in Columbus, you might meet his whistling neighbor, who Phil became close friends with because “I complimented his whistling one day.” Just a small example of how Phil keeps things fresh by staying open, curious, and kind. The same energy he brings to Wevise.

As Chief Product Officer, Phil isn’t just helping build a platform – he’s helping build bridges. And we couldn’t be more grateful.
